Why we stand here

Our people knew how to honor the earth, read the cosmos and solve problems together under the Emdit (African Olive) tree. Taach Soboon seeks to revive these indigenous knowledge systems and engineer them in today’s world.

Jerotich Kosgey

Founder and Patron

Rooted in her cultural identity, Jerotich is dedicated to proving that the future of the Nandi people does not require a Western validation.

Jerotich Kosgey brings a rare depth of scientific rigor and indigenous cultural grounding to her life’s work. With over a dozen years on the front lines of molecular virology, infectious disease outbreak response and laboratory systems management across sub-Saharan Africa, including high-containment operations during the West Africa Ebola crisis, she moves seamlessly between complex scientific frameworks and the sovereign cultural epistemology of her people.

As the founder and patron of Taach Soboon (translates to “embrace life” in the Nandi language) Community Based Organization, Jerotich anchors her leadership in the profound epistemology of Nandi culture and heritage. She bridges modern science and Nandi ancestral philosophy with quiet authority. Under her guidance, the community revives ancient agroecology, sacred tree propagation, food systems (preparation and preservation), ancient Nandi acoustics (ethnomusicology, folklore and dance) and ethno-medical traditions, validating bioactive compounds through contemporary ethnopharmacognosy while fiercely and carefully protecting the knowledge held by women elders and herbalists, who are custodians of Nandi ancient ecological knowledge.

She stands as a trusted bridge builder and community leader, quietly authoring a new standard of indigenous-led innovation, ecological health, and sovereign dignity.
